Korean Outfit

I love my new Korean outfit!

Korea has some of the nicest clothing and fashion, in my opinion. I want to share with you my favorite outfit that I see all over Korea. I wanted to have a full outfit that matched what I have in mind for my “kpop look”, so rather that one thing here and one thing there, I decided to pick one specific look that just screams “Korea” and do it from top to bottom.

As I continue do do more shopping and find more items, I can always add more. But I wanted to get started on the right foot and have one outfit where everything goes together and is complete. I can’t stand having just one or two items that fit a particular style, but I never wear them because I don’t have the anything to wear it with. You can’t wear just one article of clothing. It has to be part of a full outfit. So, rather than having things hang in my closet forever until I give up on them, I got the whole look all at once, and I didn’t stop until I had it all!

Okay, so now I’ll describe to you, from head to toe, what my favorite Korean outfit is.

Hat – Beret

One of the most Korean-style headwear I can think of is a beret. I suppose it may be considered French, but the Korean fashionistas have definitely appropriated it as their own. You see all the kpop stars wearing them. I think it’s a bit more of a feminine look, too, since I don’t see many boys wearing them. They are cute in how they flop over to the side and adds a little asymmetry to your look.

Here’s a red one, but I personally like black the best.

Top – Turtleneck Sweater

There’s something very cozy about a turtleneck sweater. I really like a blush color as it goes well with my skin tone, You have to pick out a color that works well for you. The turtleneck shapes your face and makes it look smaller, which is considered very attractive in Korea. Many times you’ll hear people comment about how a Korean star’s “face is so small!”. It’s definitely a good thing!

The sweater should reach to your wrists or a little longer. It shouldn’t be shorter than your wrists because it just make you look like your arms are too long and you’re wearing clothes that you’ve grown out of. It’s not a good look :p

I think it looks cute when the sleeves are a little long. It makes you look cute and dainty. Korean clothes are really into making the girl look small and pretty, so this work right along with that.

See?

Bottom – Plaid Pleated Skirt

You can’t wear this if it’s going to be too cold, but my favorite thing to go with all of the items listed above are a simple brown plaid pleated skirt that flares out a bit. When the skirt flares out it makes your waist look smaller. Plaid goes well with a lot of different styles, so you can wear it with other tops, even non-Korean styles. It almost looks like a school-girl look, but not really. I think it just makes you look youthful.

Shoes- Mary Janes

I already had the shoes that I wanted to wear with this outfit, so that was great. I think it looks great with some standard black or white Mary Janes. They go with literally everything, so they obviously go well with this, too. You can wear these with our without socks.

I think it looks cute either way.

The little buckle and strap make it look a little bit more cutesy that regular heels and go really well with this outfit.

Korean Outfit All Put Together

So, what does it look like all put together? Here it is! You have the pretty tan beret, a blush long sleeve sweater (I couldn’t find a pic that had a turtleneck with the rest of the outfit), and a brown plaid skirt. You can’t see the shoes in this picture, but I’m sure you can imagine just how cute they look put together with the rest of this totally Korea-worthy outfit! (not me in the picture)

Korean Clothes

Do you love Korean clothing? That’s probably why you are here! I love Korean clothing and fashion and that’s why I made this website. Today I wanted to talk a little bit about what I like about it, where you can find it online. Something that I like a lot about Korean fashion and clothing is the dresses.

Korean Dresses

One of my favorite places to get dresses is from Yesstyle. There are many different styles of Korean dresses but one of my favorites is the cute, or aegyo, kind. Aegyo is basically Korean for cute…

One of the reasons that I love the cuter dresses is that they are really nice but are still modest and don’t look like you’re trying too hard. Now, a little side point I thought was interesting… what’s considered “going overboard” with your clothes really depends a lot on your culture.

green korean dresskorean dresseskorean fashion
korean dressFor example, in South Korea, I’ve noticed that it’s a lot more common for girls to show their legs. On the other hand, it’s considered more edgy to show your back and shoulders. Here in Florida where I live, it’s actually the opposite. Girls don’t show their legs as much, but they show a lot of back, shoulders and chest. Of course different people have different styles and preferences, but it’s still considered modest to show your shoulders here whereas it isn’t in South Korea.

That’s one interesting thing that I found about the difference between Korean outfits and other types of fashion: the culture. The culture plays a really large part in what is considered cute and what is considered edgy. I suppose it’s because in Korea it’s a lot colder so it’s okay to show your legs more but if you’re showing off your shoulders I guess it looks like you’re just trying too hard. I guess it’s just too cold! But in hot, sunny Florida, it’s just too hot to cover your shoulders. But you don’t want to go overboard and show too much of your legs either. Of course different people will disagree with this, but that’s just been my observation of the difference between Korean clothing and outfits and what see you around here. Check out our list of top Korean clothing brands below (click to drop down to the list)

Of course, you can’t leave out the classic flowy blouse with a skirt look.

So, if you live somewhere where it’s not all that socially acceptable to show your legs a whole lot, make sure that you take a good look at the Korean dress that you buy. When you’re looking at Korean fashion style clothing, remember that will probably show a lot of leg, especially if you’re tall.

Other Korean Clothing and Outfits

korean fashion clothingMy other favorite Korean outfit is the snuggly sweater with shorts. You can see a lot of kpop stars wearing them. It’s something you see a lot of and videos and even in some airport fashion. That’s the great thing about Seoul. You can see kpop and movie stars everywhere because a lot of them live in that one big city, so you get to see both the red carpet Korean fashion as well as the more casual outfits. One of the outfits I like the best is the cute fuzzy sweater top with shorts. I like it because it keeps you warm and toasty and but still but doesn’t look too casual because the shorts make it cute even for going out. This is a nice outfit for hanging out with friends or just being at home. But, you can even go out and look fantastic. That’s what I love about Korean style clothing. If you look at a lot of airport fashion, it’s really nice but it’s very comfortable too. Not all Korean clothing is meant to be super comfortable, but a lot of it is. So, you can look for your favorite Korean outfits on the variety of websites online. You can also check out our new article on where you can buy hanbok.

BONUS Making Your Own Kpop Outfits: Where to Begin

Ok, so you want to replicate the looks of your favorite kpop star? This checklist is the fastest way to do it.

  1. Picking one outfit worn by your favorite Korean idol.
  2. Choose the most defining thing about that outfit.
  3. Search for their name and that item.
  4. If that doesn’t work, use different terms for the clothes
  5. Think of this as outfit hunting and don’t get distracted.
  6. When you find the item, save it for later.
  7. Go to the next most defining thing and repeat.

What I Mean By Most Defining Article of Clothing

This is a matter of perspective, but you’ll want to start stands out the most to you in the outfit. It might be the shoes. It might be the dress. Maybe the hat. Just pick the ONE thing that you feel is the most important part of the outfit and start there.

Hunting vs Browsing

One thing I learned to do that is very helping when finding Korean fashion online is to think of it as hunting rather than browsing. When browsing you’re looking around to see what’s there. This takes way more effort as you have to look at everything and make little decisions about whether something would work or not. This is why shopping can be so draining. You’re making these tiny decisions, but doing it over and over again really wears you out. It’s mentally intensive and just not the most fun way to shop whether at a kpop shop online or in the store.

When hunting, on the other hand, you have something specific in mind and you ignore everything else. You only have to make one decision: is this the thing I’m looking for? That’s it. You can make that decision over and over again and it’s way less tiring than just browsing. Also, when you have something in mind, it tends to jump out at you because you’re thinking about it.

The same way if you think about everything red in the room. Go ahead and try it. Think about “red” and look around the room. See how all those things that are red just pop out at you? Now think “blue” and look again. Now, you’re seeing all these blue things you didn’t notice before. This is how our brains work and you can use it to help you find Korean fashion a lot faster and make shopping online a lot more fun.

When the Kpop Clothing You Wanted Is Sold Out :(

In this post, I tried a bit of a different format where I put the sold out stuff on the bottom and make the picture black and white.

I want to make it clear that these clothing items aren’t available anymore, at least not from the site I found. Usually if they are not available anymore on that site, it’s because the manufacturer discontinued it and have moved on to making other things.

So, even after these are sold out, I usually can’t seem to find it in ANY store because they just don’t make it anymore. Now, I’m talking about the exact same kpop clothing items you see them wearing in the video. You can always find look-a-likes and similar items anytime.
