Buy Hanbok | Korean Traditional Wear For Sale in Online Stores

Have you seen the amazing clothes that they wear in period Korean dramas? They are the traditional Korean formal wear called a hanbok. Translated, it literally means “korean clothing”. There are many different kinds of hanboks and you may be wondering where you can buy one of your own. Fortunately, even if you don’t live in Korea (or a larger city with a Korea-town) you can still buy hanboks online. There are lots of stores online that sell hanboks, so I’ll be writing soon about the differences between them and which are the best places to buy YOUR awesome traditional, k-drama worthy Korean hanbok!

You’ve likely seen a lot of your favorite hallyu stars in a hanbok. Lee Min Ho, Song Joong Ko, Lee Hyun Woo, etc, etc.

Real Deal Hanboks

The first place I want to tell you about is a seller on Amazon called Antique Alive. They custom male hanboks for you. You just buy the hanbok, tell them your measurements and they make it for you. Pretty neat, huh? It’s like you’re getting the Joseon royal treatment!

This is the “real deal” hanboks made in Korea. Since it is in Korea, it takes a couple of weeks to ship to you. But, if you want something authentic, this is your best bet. They do good work and are very well reviewed.

Check them out here: Antique Alive

Cheaper Hanboks

We’re also going to be looking into cheaper hanboks and where you can find some decent ones without paying too much. Sometimes you may not necessarily want to pay for the Joseon-princess royal treatment, so I’ll be adding some more information here soon.

Main Hanbok Pieces

Here are what the different parts of the hanbok are called. There are different pieces that are only worn by men or women and some worn by both. Some things have changed throughout the centuries, as with all fashion, but the basics of it are fairly consistent enough for this explanation to be useful.

Jeogori

The jeogori is the top part. It is worn by both men and women, but the women’s is shorter and generally more ornate. The men’s is simpler and longer. Jeogori constists of a lot of different pieces, most of which you don’t really need to know. But, in case you’re interested, there’s the git, gil, goreum, seop, so-mae, buri. The little white piece that sticks out from under the collar is called the dongjeong.

hanbok-pieces-of-jeogori

Otgoreum (long cloth in front)

That piece of cloth you see in the front of the women’s hanbok is called the otgoreum. It’s just for decoration and hangs down nicely in along the chima, or skirt.

Chima

The chima is also only worn by women (the men wear a baji). There are single layered, double layered, and quilted chima. Underneath that, you wear a petticoat-like skirt called a sokchima.

Baji

The baji is the pants and is only worn by men. Chimas and bajis are kind of like the traidition Korean form of skirts and pants. They’re a lot baggier than westerner’s pants so that you can sit on the floor.

Gat

The black hat you see the men wear is called a gat. The frame is made of horse hair and the fabric is horse hair.

Women’s Hanbok

Women’s hanboks consist of jeogori and chima. Jeogori is the top part and is blouse/jacket and is more curvy looking than the men’s. The skirt part is called the chima. Also, only the women’s has the otgoreum.hanbok-pieces

Men’s Hanbok

The men’s hanbok also calls the top part jeogori, like the women’s. The men’s jeogori is a lot more simplistic than the women’s. The bottom pants are called a baji. They are pretty loose fitting to make it easy to sit on the floor. Po is what you call the robe that is worn over everything. Only the men get to rock that sweet gat.

Usage

Generally the hanboks are worn on formal or semiformal occasions. Ever since 1996, South Korea has Hanbok Day where they celebrate the the traditional Korean fashion everyone loves. There’s a big fashion show in Seoul and it’s been getting a lot of attention lately as all things Korean are exposed to a more globalized audience. Thanks to technology, this awesome style is being seen by people all over the world.. It even seems to be influencing fashion designers all over the world.

Well, more to come soon. For now, here is a picture of Song Jong Ki with his own sweet gat to hold you over. Also, let me know what kind of hanboks you’re interested in buying. Women’s hamboks vs men’s hanboks vs simple vs ornate? Message me and let me know what kind of hanbok you’re looking for and I’ll see what I can find.

Korean Fashion Online | Shopping for Korea Clothes and Kpop Costumes

I had a lot of different requests for different Kpop Fashion items. I’ve searched for and found everything from specific t-shirts and sneakers to shoulder harnesses and sailor dresses. In the process of looking for all of those Korean clothes, I’ve been able to find some of the best places to do Korean online shopping. It’s something that I love to do and have always enjoyed. And now, I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite places to buy Korean clothing online.

Korean Fashion Online

One of my favorite places to buy Korean fashion online is Yes Style. I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll say it again here. By far, they have some of the best prices and are usually the first place I look for something. This is my number one pick for Korea online shopping because they have a good return policy and you get your items quickly.

Korean clothes onlineKorean Online Shopping Returns

Korea online shoppingFor most regular fashion products like clothes and shoes you can exchange a defective item or exchange to another size within 14 days. Also, if you just don’t like it you can return the item for within 14 days. I wanted to mention, though, that swimwear, underwear, jewelry can only be exchanged if it’s defective. They won’t let you exchange those things for another size or if you just don’t want it anymore. The only let you exchange those kinds of items if there’s something wrong with it. So, if you’re just buying clothes or shoes you’re free to return it or exchange it within 2 weeks. But, if you’re buying underwear and swimwear make sure you get your right size because they only let you exchange it if it’s defective.

Korean Fashion Deals

Another great thing about buying Korean clothes online from Yes Style is that they are always having specials and deals. Right now for example they are having a deal where if you spend $35 you get free shipping AND they have a 10% off coupon. That’s just at the time of this writing, though. They might have something different going on when you read this. They also have a lot of flash sales so I like to check there often to see what they have going on. This is what’s great about buying Korean clothing online. You can check around and see when they are having sales, all from your phone and laptop!

Korean Online Shop: Most Legit

My favorite legit Korean online kpop shop is QNIGirls. As the name suggests, they only have women’s clothes, but don’t worry there are plenty of other places to find men’s clothing. For women’s Korean clothing online this is, in my opinion, the most authentic you can get. They are actual Korean clothes shipped from Korea. The website is in Korean, lol, but if you’re using Google Chrome it will automatically translate the page for you. So, no worries if you don’t speak Korean. Anyway, this Korean online shop is the real deal. They have tops, bottom, outerwear, and pretty much anything you would want for Korean clothing. For summer, they are also having a lot of swimwear. They a good selection of makeup, shoes and accessories and it is all real deal Korean stuff. So, if you’re looking for a real Korean shopping online experience this is the place to go.

Kpop Costumes

Kpop costumes are another story, though. If you are looking for a costume that you have seen on stage then they might not have what you’re looking for. For something more traditional (or should I say a LOT more traditional) we have a new post on where to find a korean hanbok for sale online. Be on the lookout in the future though as I’ll likely be posting on that soon.Korean online shop

By the way, if you’re feeling brave with your Korean language skills… check out this site: Naver Shopping. A lot of the text is images, so the browser translator won’t work, but check it out if you’re up for it.

Korean Clothing | Dresses, Outfits, and Korean Style Brands

Do you love Korean clothing? That’s probably why you are here! I love Korean clothing and fashion and that’s why I made this website. Today I wanted to talk a little bit about what I like about it, where you can find it online. Something that I like a lot about Korean fashion and clothing is the dresses.

Korean Dresses

One of my favorite places to get dresses is from Yesstyle. There are many different styles of Korean dresses but one of my favorites is the cute, or aegyo, kind. Aegyo is basically Korean for cute…

One of the reasons that I love the cuter dresses is that they are really nice but are still modest and don’t look like you’re trying too hard. Now, a little side point I thought was interesting… what’s considered “going overboard” with your clothes really depends a lot on your culture.

green korean dresskorean dresseskorean fashion
korean dressFor example, in South Korea, I’ve noticed that it’s a lot more common for girls to show their legs. On the other hand, it’s considered more edgy to show your back and shoulders. Here in Florida where I live, it’s actually the opposite. Girls don’t show their legs as much, but they show a lot of back, shoulders and chest. Of course different people have different styles and preferences, but it’s still considered modest to show your shoulders here whereas it isn’t in South Korea.

That’s one interesting thing that I found about the difference between Korean outfits and other types of fashion: the culture. The culture plays a really large part in what is considered cute and what is considered edgy. I suppose it’s because in Korea it’s a lot colder so it’s okay to show your legs more but if you’re showing off your shoulders I guess it looks like you’re just trying too hard. I guess it’s just too cold! But in hot, sunny Florida, it’s just too hot to cover your shoulders. But you don’t want to go overboard and show too much of your legs either. Of course different people will disagree with this, but that’s just been my observation of the difference between Korean clothing and outfits and what see you around here. Check out our list of top Korean clothing brands below (click to drop down to the list)

Of course, you can’t leave out the classic flowy blouse with a skirt look.

korean dress yellow

So, if you live somewhere where it’s not all that socially acceptable to show your legs a whole lot, make sure that you take a good look at the Korean dress that you buy. When you’re looking at Korean fashion style clothing, remember that will probably show a lot of leg, especially if you’re tall.

Other Korean Clothing and Outfits

korean fashion clothingOne of my other favorite Korean outfits is the snuggly sweater with shorts. You can see a lot of kpop stars wearing them. It’s something you see a lot of and videos and even in some airport fashion. That’s the great thing about Seoul. You can see kpop and movie stars everywhere because a lot of them live in that one big city, so you get to see both the red carpet Korean fashion as well as the more casual outfits. One of the outfits I like the best is the cute fuzzy sweater top with shorts. I like it because it keeps you warm and toasty and but still but doesn’t look too casual because the shorts make it cute even for going out. This is a nice outfit for hanging out with friends or just being at home. But, you can even go out and look fantastic. That’s what I love about Korean style clothing. If you look at a lot of airport fashion, it’s really nice but it’s very comfortable too. Not all Korean clothing is meant to be super comfortable, but a lot of it is. So, you can look for your favorite Korean outfits on the variety of websites online. You can also check out our new article on where you can buy hanbok.

BONUS Making Your Own Kpop Outfits: Where to Begin

Ok, so you want to replicate the looks of your favorite kpop star? This checklist is the fastest way to do it.

  1. Picking one outfit worn by your favorite Korean idol.
  2. Choose the most defining thing about that outfit.
  3. Search for their name and that item.
  4. If that doesn’t work, use different terms for the clothes
  5. Think of this as outfit hunting and don’t get distracted.
  6. When you find the item, save it for later.
  7. Go to the next most defining thing and repeat.

What I Mean By Most Defining Article of Clothing

This is a matter of perspective, but you’ll want to start stands out the most to you in the outfit. It might be the shoes. It might be the dress. Maybe the hat. Just pick the ONE thing that you feel is the most important part of the outfit and start there.

Hunting vs Browsing

One thing I learned to do that is very helping when finding Korean fashion online is to think of it as hunting rather than browsing. When browsing you’re looking around to see what’s there. This takes way more effort as you have to look at everything and make little decisions about whether something would work or not. This is why shopping can be so draining. You’re making these tiny decisions, but doing it over and over again really wears you out. It’s mentally intensive and just not the most fun way to shop whether at a kpop shop online or in the store.

When hunting, on the other hand, you have something specific in mind and you ignore everything else. You only have to make one decision: is this the thing I’m looking for? That’s it. You can make that decision over and over again and it’s way less tiring than just browsing. Also, when you have something in mind, it tends to jump out at you because you’re thinking about it.

The same way if you think about everything red in the room. Go ahead and try it. Think about “red” and look around the room. See how all those things that are red just pop out at you? Now think “blue” and look again. Now, you’re seeing all these blue things you didn’t notice before. This is how our brains work and you can use it to help you find Korean fashion a lot faster and make shopping online a lot more fun.

Korean Fashion | What I Love About Korean Style and Clothes

As you can probably tell, I really love Korean fashion. This article I’m going to be talking a little bit more about what I love about Korean style and clothes. I’ll also be going into some of my favorite places to buy Korean Fashion online!

Finding Korean Style Clothes Online

No doubt, you are here because you love kpop and Korean style clothing. You have probably looked around and tried to find specific items of clothing that you’ve seen your favorite K-pop stars wear. In addition to K-pop, kdrama Stars are also famous for what they’re wearing both on-screen and off-screen. The same goes for K-pop Stars. They are just as well known for what they wear to the airport as for what they wear on stage or in their music videos.

yest style korean fashion

Some of my favorite places to buy Korean style clothes is Yesstyle. They have a lot of different selection of Korean Style clothing. Another really good place to get Korean clothes is Qnigirls. They are based in South Korea so they’re about as legit as you can find when it comes to Korean clothing brands.

Cold Weather Korean Fashion

One of my favorite things about Korean fashion is that it is nice and warm while being really stylish. Korea is about the same latitude as North Carolina in the United States. Now, North Carolina is not all that cold, but South Korea is a lot colder even though it is on the same latitude. The reason for this is that South Korea gets the Siberian winds from the north. So, even though South Korea and North Carolina are all about the same latitude, South Korea is a lot colder for most of the year. Because it is a lot chillier in South Korea the style has evolved to include lots of stylish outerwear. A lot of Korean fashion style includes blazers, trench coats, peacoats, boots, and other things that you generally wear in the winter.korean clothes brands

Summer fashion can be fun, but nothing beats the stylishness of a more formal looking winter outfit. This is one of the main reasons that I love Korean fashion. They use a lot of nice clothes that keep you warm and look really stylish. Because it’s a little cooler, people focus more on dressing up nicely and taking very good care of their clothes. In warmer climates, it seems like it’s just too hot to do that and so people dress a lot more casually. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it’s just my personal preference to dress a little more on the nicer side and be a little less casual.

Casual Korean Clothes

Even the airport fashion that you see K-pop stars wear are really stylish and look really nice. The whole point of going to the airport is to be comfortable, but I love to see how these K-Pop Stars still manage to look amazing even though they’re in their most casual attire. Even if they’re just wearing sweat pants and a baggy shirt. You can tell that they are well-fitting and flatter their shape and are carefully selected. We also have the other end of the spectrum with traditional korean clothes with our hanbok article, including our favorite hanbok store.

Well, that’s my take on it!

Post below why you love Korean Fashion or your favorite place for Korean online shopping!

Yoona’s Blouse on the Prime Minister and I

Have you been watching The Prime Minister and I? The last episode was scheduled to air in Korea last night! SNSD’s very own “face”, Im Yoona, starred in this clever romantic comedy. In the recent episode 6, we see Yoona wearing this star-studded blouse, which you can get from Bluefly.com! What do you think of Yoona’s fashion on this drama? Let us know in the comment section!

Also, for a more regal effect you can find a similar hanbok online.

Bo Na’s HEIRS Episode 2 Look

So it seems that Lee Min Ho’s new drama HEIRS crashed Drama Fever last night. My nampyeon and I were ready to watch Episode 5 minutes after it came out on Wednesday night, but apparently thousands of other fans were watching as well, and it continuously paused to buffer. We finally decided to take in our nightly dose of Running Man a little early instead. Last night, I was curious as to what would happen when Episode 6 arrived, so I visited the site. It was down. HEIRS, you will go down in history as a server-overloading wonder.

Speaking of knock-outs, (forgive me for this post being so corny,) f(x)’s Krystal Jung is doing a great job of playing her character in HEIRS: Lee Bo Na. My oppa came a little late into what is available of the series, so I introduced Bo Na as “Chan Young’s annoying girlfriend”. But as we watched the ensuing episodes, he didn’t really agree with my description. Now that I think of it, she is slowly developing as a character that there’s more to, and my irritation at her possessiveness is evolving into admiration of her adoration of Chan Young. Her activeness in her school and other endeavors is also impressive. We’ll see what she’ll bring us in future episodes…

Despite my rambling, this is a Fashion Find! Below, you’ll find an outfit of Bo Na’s from Episode 2, during an important scene where (MILD SPOILER ALERT) she calls Chan Young to ask him to look at his SNS, which leads him to discover Eun Sang’s message for help.

Sooyoung’s Sweater in Dating Agency: Cyrano

Ever wondered where your favorite drama characters get their wardrobes? I recently noticed a designer sweater SNSD’s Sooyoung wears in her popular drama, Dating Agency: Cyrano. So where can you get it? The sweater, shown below, is called “Anarchy” from the Marc by Marc Jacobs line. It costs $398 on MarcJacobs.com; however I looked around and found it at a more affordable price just for you. You can get the sweater on mytheresa.com for about 40% less, at $251.10. This includes everything but shipping. Hurry, though, right now this price reflects a 10% off discount code now applied at checkout, and I had a hard time finding it in other stores, as most places it’s sold out.
